Summer Mission Project: Missions in Your Own Backyard
Step by Step is excited to offer Summer Revive as a mission opportunity for our local ministry partners! Every Thursday night during the school year Step by Step gathers young moms and their children from all over our community for Revive, offering free transportation, childcare, and a hot meal. During these nights moms have a chance to build community with one another and have a safe place to be seen and loved. Moms are introduced to the Gospel while their kids are learning Bible stories and completing activities and crafts. We need your help to continue offering this space throughout the summer!
Here’s where your group comes in. In order to give our regular volunteer teams a break in the summer, we’re looking for groups to sponsor Summer Revive nights. This means your group would provide the meal, volunteers, and children’s programming for one or two Thursday nights to ensure moms and kids continue to have a place to gather!
Choose one or two of the following dates:
- May 18
- June 1 & 22
- July 6 & 20
For each date you will need to provide the following, please note that volunteers can be men or women. Anyone over the age of 18 will need to complete a background check provided by SBS.
Meal: Provide a hot meal for moms and kids with ~3-5 volunteers to serve. Details on the meal can be seen here.
Van Drivers: Transportation is KEY in allowing moms and kids to participate. If possible, provide 2 volunteers over the age of 25 who are able to drive the SBS van to pick up moms and kids for the night.
Children’s Programming: Think of it as a mini-VBS! SBS Revive Kids is divided into 3 age groups; infants, ages 2-4, and ages 5+. Your group will provide a minimum of 4 volunteers per group (12 total). For the ages 2-4 and 5+ groups you will develop lessons, crafts, and activities for the evening. Feel free to get creative and include sports, outdoor games, or other engaging activities your group has to offer!
Get to know our moms and kids! You will have a great time serving alongside your own community while getting to know ours. Through this opportunity we hope to connect our moms with churches in the community as a place for them to continue exploring and growing in their faith. We can’t do it without your partnership!
