As I stepped into the Director’s role a year and a half ago, I promised God that I would serve Him with all of my heart for the next thirty years regardless of whether the ministry grew or if Step by Step remained a tiny ministry. God seems to have other plans. Our volunteer base and our client base have more than doubled, and there is a burden on my heart to reach all of the 500 teen moms who give birth each year in this community. It is heavy on my heart to share the message of Christ so that they and their children might experience the life change He brings.
In 2006 we ministered to 108 young single mothers, and 174 of their children. In the past two years Step By Step has led 50 moms to Jesus, and many of their children as well. God is doing some remarkable things in their lives!
We have also been approached from people in the local cities of Georgetown and Nicholasville, as well as nationally by people in Oklahoma and Florida. Recently we were even approached by someone desiring to start one in Canada. These are exciting times at Step By Step. As always, with growth, comes an extended need for resources… both volunteer, and financial.
Our growing needs are more than a staff of three part time employees and our current financing can keep up with. The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. We are asking their Lord of the harvest to send more laborers…. could that be you? And to use his people to pour out His storehouse of financial blessings on Step By Step, so that we can meet the great need for this ministry in our community and in our world. Won’t you join us in this effort?
In His mercy,
Susan Freeman
